SYNOPSIS FROM GOODREADS:

No one knows what caused the dead to rise. No one knows what caused them to attack the living. Fighting for their lives, scattered survivors find the attempted cure to be almost worse than the disease.

In the twilight of a shattered civilization, the fate of humankind rests upon the actions of a handful of war-weary survivors. Driven to a scorched corner of the former United States, they alone hold the key to a global reawakening.

Or the final epitaph for a dead planet.

MY REVIEW:

I received this e-book for review from the author through a LibraryThing Member Giveaway. I did not receive any compensation for my review, and the views expressed herein are my own.

I was quite excited to read this book when I saw that it featured zombies! Who doesn’t love zombies?

A virus breaks out worldwide, which initially starts off with flu-like symptoms. After a few hours, those infected begin to change and become violent, attacking people. To be bitten by one that is infected is certain death...that is, until you rise again!

I am not usually a fan of multiple parallel story-lines, but Esmont pulls it off! Zombie fans will not be disappointed. It is gruesome in some spots, but I think the details need to be vivid for a zombie story.

Esmont’s bio at the end of the book says that he is working on both a sequel and a prequel to Fire, and I know that I would definitely be interested in reading those as well!

MY RATING: 4 stars! I really enjoyed it!!

  1. Darn, I must have missed this one. I've read so many zombie books, and this one sounds pretty good.
I review a total of fourteen zombie novels (short reviews in a list) on my blog, if you'd like some other ideas for zombie fic.
