When Fangirls Lie Book Blitz: Character Interview and Giveaway with Marian Tee

Hi, everyone!

I am pleased to participate in the Book Blitz hosted by Xpresso Book Tours for Marian Tee's When Fangirls Lie.

About Marian:
Hi! I’m Marian Tee – I write sexy funny romances, emphasis on the funny because most readers tell me my books are a public hazard, often causing them to laugh out loud and get funny looks from other people.
I’m from the Philippines, half Filipino and half Chinese with a love for all things Japanese! Yes, that rhymed. I love dancing, travelling, watching horror movies and basketball, and reading Archie comics.

Of course I love reading books, too. In fact, if I’m a little too slow in releasing a new book, it’s probably because I’m too busy being a reader and forgot all about being a writer. Yes, I know, MY BAD!

I am a frustrated MANGAKA, hence why I write novels like Drawn and why I have a Vampire Knight fan fic posted at FanFiction.net (just search for Morteia Chronicles).

CONNECT ONLINE WITH MARIAN:

Welcome to Darlene's Book Nook, Marian!

Marian has written a Character Interview, so I will now turn the floor over to her.

For today’s interview we’re welcoming Staffan Aehrenthal. Most of you know him for his numerous Billboard #1 hits – more likely, you also know him as Sweden’s #1 Sex God. So without further ado, here’s Staffan, who’s promised to answer the questions every fangirl is keen to ask.

Is it true you’re dating one of your fans?

No. I wish I was because I’m quite terribly in love with her, but no. She’s only using me for my body.

(Readers, we heard a girl groan in the background at this, but we’re not sure)

What’s your usual move to impress a girl?

I have sex with her.

(Staffan gives us a wicked grin, plus a look at under his lashes, my oh my. We totally fanned ourselves with this one, ladies.)

Where do you see yourself ten years from now? Do you think you’ll still be touring and playing music by then?

Most likely not – I need to take over the family business once my stepfather retires. Considering the size of my stepfather’s business and the fact that he employs thousands of employees around the world, I can’t in all conscience risk letting them down and have them lose their jobs – which is what could happen if I still decide to juggle my music career with managing the company.

What’s your ideal girl like?

Someone who is so crazy about me she can’t breathe without even thinking my name, but at the same time she should also be level-headed enough to keep me on my toes and make sure my feet stays on the ground. I want her to be obsessed with me completely because that’s how I love a girl – obsessively, like there’s no tomorrow for us to share another kiss.

Now, we’ll give you several words then say the first thing that comes to your mind.

Dream. Babies

Success. Sex

Beauty. Love

Dislike. Dishonesty

Sex. Anywhere

(Phew! That’s the end of the interview!)

19-year-old Saffi March is not the perfect girl everyone thinks she is. When the pressure of pretending becomes too much, she escapes for a weekend and transforms herself into another persona - a hardcore groupie for the rockstar also known as Sweden's #1 Sex God, Staffan Aehrenthal.

One look at the beautiful girl hopelessly trying to hide her naïve virginal innocence behind skimpy dresses and garish makeup and Staffan immediately knows the groupie called "H" is hiding a secret. He also knows he needs her desperately. He's determined to make her his, the only girl who's able to soothe the demons in him.

But before Staffan can let Saffi into his life, those stars in her eyes have to go - and he'll do everything for that to happen, even if it means cruelly hurting Saffi until she realizes that he would never trust anyone with his heart again.

Rylee Adamson Interview
By Shannon Mayer

My name is Rylee. I don’t like it when people use my last name, it reminds me of where I’m from and the people who turned on me. I was adopted as a baby into a family where they couldn’t have children naturally. But when I was ten, my parents got a surprise. A miracle baby, a little girl with golden hair and bright blue eyes.

When I was sixteen, I was accused of killing her; our parents believed the police. But I don’t really want to talk about that it was over ten years ago. I’m trying to let it go.

I’m a Tracker, a supernatural who can trace anyone’s life threads finding them regardless of whether they’re dead or alive. I prefer alive, dead is messy, but so often that is the case. I’m also an Immune, magic slides off me as if I don’t exist. That is handy.

Gods, I’m sweating here trying not to swear. Are you sure I can’t use at least one four letter word? No, of course not.

I never Track adults. They can bloody well take care of themselves. I only ever Track kids. Probably I’m trying to make up for not saving my sister. But I’ll leave that up to the psychologists out there to decipher my motives.

Alex is my buddy, a werewolf trapped between forms; half man, half wolf. Submissive, goofy and loyal to the bone he is the one spot of bright light in my life. I think you’d like him the best of the two of us. I know I can be a hard ass, I can’t seem to help it. But Alex has never met someone he couldn’t win over with a floppy wave of his oversized paws. He might not be the best back-up, but he makes me smile and in my world, that is enough.

Someone once asked me what it was like to Track kids for parents who had no one else to turn to, for parents who’d lost hope that their child would ever be returned to them.

This was my answer: It’s a weight and a responsibility that sits on me, I took an oath that I would never stop Tracking lost children. That I would put my life on the line for those who can’t save themselves, and that I would fight to my last breath to keep a child alive.

And I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Thanks so much for joining us today, Shannon!

Underestimating demons is a bad idea, and it’s a mistake that may cost me not only my own life, but the life of a missing child.

If only swallowing my pride was that easy.

Interview with a werewolf…

Character interview of Clay from Hope(less): Book One of the Judgement of the Six, by author Melissa Haag

A knock sounds at the door. Melissa scrambles to tuck the latest novel she’s reading under a sofa cushion and then runs to answer the door. The afternoon interviewee has arrived. Melissa peeks out the door and finds a scruffy looking man staring back. His longish hair partially covers his eyes and a beard covers his face. Despite his dubious appearance, she opens the door with a smile.

Melissa: Hi! Come on in. **steps aside and motions Clay in.**

Clay nods in greeting and enters.

Melissa: Please have a seat. **motions Clay to sit and takes a seat across from him in her slightly dusty living room.**

Melissa: I was so excited you agreed to this interview. After finishing Hope(less), I have so many questions for you. Can I get you anything to drink before we start?

Clay declines with a shake of his head.

Melissa: ** leans back into her chair and picks up a pad of paper to take notes.** Tell me, what did you think of Gabby when you first saw her?

Clay smiles slightly. His whisker’s twitch.

Clay: Pretty.

Melissa waits for a few seconds for Clay to say more, clears her throat, and then moves on when he remains quiet.

Melissa: What exactly happened that night you brought her back to the compound? I’m really curious about the leaves in her hair.

Clay shifts uncomfortably and shrugs.

Clay: Distraction.

Melissa: **blinks at his taciturn response.** Let’s talk about your favorite color. Why pink?

Clay: **grins wickedly and shrugs.** Bikini.

Melissa: Oh? **leans forward anticipating more detail, but is left waiting. Stifling a groan of frustration, moves on to the next question.** What made you decide to get a job from Dale?

Clay: **gives a full grin, showing teeth. His eyes crinkle at the corners.** Opportunity.

Melissa: **the sexy smile evokes memories of several scenes from Hope(less). Melissa shakes herself, and barely avoids sighing in a dreamy fashion.** What did you think of Gabby’s attempts to get rid of you?

Clay: **a quick laugh escapes him.** Expected.

Melissa: **looks down at the blank note paper and scowls briefly before returning her focus to Clay.** I don’t want to give anything away for anyone who hasn’t read Hope(less), but tell me… how do you feel about how the book ended?

Clay: **the heart-melting smile returns.** Satisfied.

Melissa: **desperate for something to put to paper asks a simple yes or no question.** Have you shaved for Gabby yet?

Clay shrugs enigmatically.

Melissa: **quickly asks the next question.** Do you have any insight what will happen in the next installment of the series?

Clay shakes his head.

Melissa: Will we learn anything more about Gabby’s abilities?

Clay shrugs.

Melissa: **tries a different approach.** Now that Hope(less) is finished, what do you plan to do?

Clay: Wait.

Melissa: **frustration creeps into the next question.** We can expect to see you again, then?

Clay shrugs enigmatically.

Melissa: **makes a show of looking at her watch.** Well, look at the time! **Stands and extends hand.** I appreciate your time and your succinct answers. **leads Clay to the door.**

Clay nods and exits.

Melissa returns to the couch, digs out her Novel where the men actually speak in complete sentences, and escapes into another world.

Thanks so much for joining us today, Melissa and Clay! It was a lot of fun getting to know you better!

Book Excerpt:

“What are you thinking about?” Emmitt asked, his thumb trailing softly across my cheek as I became aware of the present.

My heart skipped a beat at the close contact and I struggled to breathe.

“Nothing,” I whispered.

He dropped his hand, but stayed close, his eyes searching mine. “We all have our secrets, Michelle.”

I wanted to snort in disbelief. What secret did Emmitt have that could possible rival the laundry basket of secrets I carried?

He continued to watch me and then frowned slightly. “I want to show you something,” he said slowly as if just making up his mind. “My secret.” He moved half a step back, giving himself room to show me his forearm. “But I don’t want it to freak you out. I just want you to see you can share your secrets with me. I want you to be happy here.”

I doubted it, but dutifully looked at his arms. At first, I thought I needed to find a tiny hidden tattoo or something. As my eyes searched, I noticed his arm hair change. It grew longer and thicker. Startled, my gaze flew to his.

“You can make your hair grow?” My gaze flitted to the hair on his head. It didn’t look any longer than it had a moment ago.

“Sort of,” he said lowering his arm. “There’s more.” He pulled back his lips in a parody of a huge smile.

I stared at Emmitt in horror, all my hopes crushed with the single telling revelation of his elongated teeth. Panic bloomed. Clutching the glass in my hand, a growling scream erupted from my throat as I drew back to throw it at him. At the same time, I lifted a knee, clipping his groin. He dropped like a stone before the glass touched him.

Eyes wide, I looked down at his prone form. His eyes closed, he gritted his teeth, canines still exposed. Panting, I tried to make myself move. Run. Run! RUN!!! It echoed in the cavern of my mind until I broke free of my paralysis. Dropping the glass, I sprinted for the door. I cleared the door as glass shattered and he grunted.

Gary is a Civil War buff, and enjoys swimming, spending time at the beach, model railroading, reading, and writing.

Welcome to Darlene's Book Nook, Marlene & Gary!

Marlene & Gary have written a guest post, so I will now turn the floor over to them!

Interview conducted between Bradley Miles, reporter for the Mountain Press and J.J. Pickler, owner of J.J.’s Junk Emporium.

Bradley Miles: “Mr. Pickler. It is our understanding that you have just recently turned yourself into the Sevierville Police after leaving town mysteriously following a brutal murder at the Junk Emporium, which you are the owner of.”

J.J. Pickler: “That’s correct. I’ve been gone for nearly two weeks.”

Miles: “You realize that during your unannounced absence, that you were considered a person of interest in the murder of Butch Miller.”

Pickler: “Yes, but after being questioned by the police I have been exonerated as a possible suspect. I can assure you, I’m not the Smoky Mountain Killer.”

Miles: “Let’s go back to that horrible morning if you will, when you discovered the mangled body of the victim. What can you tell us about the moment when you realized what had happened?”

Pickler: “I can’t actually tell you what happened. I can only tell you the way I felt at that moment when I stumbled across the body. It’s rather hard to explain Miller’s condition when I first saw it. It really didn’t even resemble a body. I guess the best way to explain what I saw was that it looked like a pile of raw meat.”

Miles: “We understand from the police report that the horrific condition of the body was from the attack of your three guard dogs.”

Pickler: “That is also correct. I have a lot of valuable auto parts in a large fenced in area of my business. The property is posted against trespassing and warning signs are posted as well letting intruders know that there are vicious dogs loose at night inside the fence.”

Miles: “Then the dogs did kill Miller?”

Pickler: “Yes, that’s true. The police, however have established from clues found at the scene, that Miller was bound and gagged and then placed inside the fencing. Now, whether he was conscious when the dogs pounced on him, they are not sure.”

Miles: “According to the police report, Miller’s fingers were amputated with some sort of a tool, just like the two previous murders we’ve had over in Blount County earlier this year. Do you think Miller’s death was the work of the Smoky Mountain Killer?”

Pickler: “Yes, I do.”

Miles: “Did you know either one of the first two victims?”

Pickler: “No, I didn’t know either one of them. Well, let me rephrase that. I did see from time to time the name of Mildred Henks, the second victim, on a number of real estate signs. I guess she was a real estate agent here in the area.”

Miles: “If you as you say, had nothing to do with the Miller’s murder, then why did you run off and disappear for two weeks?”

Pickler: “I was scared out of my wits! That’s why. Then police haven’t released all of the clues that were discovered at the crime scene. There was a note duct taped to the fence. The note said: Pickler. You’re next! I wasn’t about to hang around and become the next victim.”

Miles: “Now that the police have eliminated you as a suspect how has your life changed?”

Pickler: “I’m still scared. I have no idea why I’m be tagged as the killer’s next victim. That being said. I have a license to carry my 45 caliber revolver with him which I will continue to do until the killer is caught. Until the incident at my junkyard, Blount County seemed to be the area where the killer was operating. But now, these brutal murders have come over here to Sevier County. No one is safe, until this maniac is captured.”
Thanks so much for joining us today, Marlene & Gary!

About the Books:

In the fall of 1969 in the mountains of eastern Tennessee, a poor backwoods farmer and his wife were brutally shot and killed by four drunken hunters, along with their three dogs, horse and two fawns. The farmer’s two young sons managed to escape but were unable to identify the killers. Now decades later, the murders of the Pender family remain unsolved. In Townsend, Tennessee, in Blount County, someone has decided to take revenge.

It’s springtime in the Smokies and despite the four murders of the previous year, tourists from every corner of the country have made the journey to Townsend, Tennessee. The hiking trails are packed, the restaurants are jammed, and the campsites are full. Vacation season is in full swing in the peaceful side of the Smokies.

But then… there is another murder.
