2011 YA Reading Challenge: Wrap-up Post

Hi, everyone!

This is my wrap-up post for the 2011 YA Reading Challenge hosted by Jamie at Jamie Loves YA.

CHALLENGE NOT COMPLETED!

I had signed up for The Mini YA Reading Challenge, which was to read 12 Young Adult books. I came really close, just one book short of reaching this level. I'm actually reading the 12th book now, Crossed by Ally Condie, which is Book #2 of the Matched series.

Here are the 11 YA books that I read in 2011:
  1. Twilight by Stephenie Meyer (Book #1 of The Twilight Saga)
  2. New Moon by Stephenie Meyer (Book #2 of The Twilight Saga)
  3. Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer (Book #3 of The Twilight Saga)
  4. Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer (Book #4 of The Twilight Saga)
  5. The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella by Stephenie Meyer (Book #3.5 of The Twilight Saga)
  6. Huber Hill and the Dead Man's Treasure by B.K. Bostick (Book #1 of the Huber Hill Trilogy)
  7. Arson by Estevan Vega (Book #1 of the Arson Series)
  8. Ushers, Inc. by Rusty Fischer
  9. Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor (Book #1 of Daughter of Smoke & Bone Series)
  10. The Sign of the Beaver by Elizabeth George Speare
  11. Matched by Ally Condie (Book #1 of the Matched Series)
The Young Adult genre was a new one that I discovered this year thanks to The Twilight Saga! Thank you, Stephenie Meyer, for writing such a great YA series! Until earlier this year, I thought that the YA genre was "just for kids." Boy, was I wrong! I have found that I can enjoy YA books as much as the "adult" literature.

Even though I did not complete the challenge, I had a lot of fun delving into this new-to-me genre! I plan to read more YA novels next year!

Thanks again for hosting, Jamie!

I'm already signed up for the 2012 challenge, which is being hosted by Bumps in the Road!
