30 Day Book Challenge - Day 18: 5 books you really really want to read and haven't had the chance for whatever reason

Day 18: 5 books you really really want to read and haven't had the chance for whatever reason.

It will be hard to narrow this down because there are so many books that I really, really, really want to read that I haven't yet simply due to a lack of free time! I'm going to list five sets instead of five books.

The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins:
The Hunger Games (Book #1)
Catching Fire (Book #2)
Mockingjay (Book #3)

I love dystopia, and I can't wait to read this series! I have them all on audiobook. Just need to find the time!

Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling:

Shocking, isn't it? Well, this was intentional. I did actually read Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone when it first came out, and I was about to start Chamber of Secrets when I realized that this was exactly the type of series that I wanted to read with my children (I wasn't even pregnant at the time!). So, I intentionally pushed the series aside (although I did buy each book when it came out) to wait until I had children...and then to wait until they were old enough to enjoy it! The time is now!! We are trying to read the first in the series and keep getting sidetracked, but we are trying!

The Millennium Trilogy by Stieg Larsson
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (Book #1)
The Girl Who Played with Fire (Book #2)
The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest (Book #3)

This crime/thriller series sounds like something right up alley!

Sookie Stackhouse (aka Southern Vampires) series by Charlaine Harris:
Dead Until Dark (Book #1)
Living Dead in Dallas (Book #2)
Club Dead (Book #3)
Dead to the World (Book #4)
Dead as a Doornail (Book #5)
Definitely Dead (Book #6)
All Together Dead (Book #7)
From Dead to Worse (Book #8)
Dead and Gone (Book #9)
Dead in the Family (Book #10)
Death's Excellent Vacation (Book #10.1)
Dead Reckoning (Book #11)
Deadlocked (Book #12)
A Touch of Dead (Books #4.1, 4.3, 5.1, 7.1, & 8.1)
The Sookie Stackhouse Companion

I love the television series, and I love vampires! I am even hosting the 2012 Sookie Stackhouse Reading Challenge, and I haven't read one dang book! Sheesh! It looks like I'll have to extend the challenge into next year!

The Nightwalkers series by Jacquelyn Frank
Jacob (Book #1)
Gideon (Book #2)
Elijah (Book #3)
Damien (Book #4)
Noah (Book #5)
Adam (Book #6)

This Paranormal Romance series was highly recommended to me by my friend, Dorothy. Once again, I am even hosting the 2012 Nightwalkers Reading Challenge and I have yet to read a single one!

The Immortals After Dark series by Kresley Cole:
The Warlord Wants Forever (Book #1)
A Hunger Like No Other (Book #2)
No Rest for the Wicked (Book #3)
Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night (Book #4)
Dark Needs at Night's Edge (Book #5)
Dark Desires After Dusk (Book #6)
Kiss of a Demon King (Book #7)
Deep Kiss of Winter (Book #8)
Pleasure of a Dark Prince (Book #9)
Demon from the Dark (Book #10)
Dreams of a Dark Warrior (Book #11)
Lothaire (Book #12)

This is another Paranormal Romance series that I'm dying to read. Once again, I am even hosting the Immortals After Dark Reading Challenge and I have yet to read a single one!

Okay, so that was six series :)

As you can see, I am doing very badly at my own reading challenges!

And I musn't forget:

Mercy Thompson Series by Patricia Briggs
Drake Sisters Series by Christine Feehan
Dark Series (aka Carpathians) by Christine Feehan
Darkest Powers Series by Kelley Armstrong
Women of the Otherworld Series by Kelley Armstrong

I could go on and on!

If for no other purpose, at least I've started my reading list for next year! Wouldn't it be so cool if I could read all of them?

What about you?

What five books (or sets) do you really want to read but just haven't had the time for whatever reason? I would love to hear from you! Just leave a comment below!

  2. I just barely read the Hunger Games trilogy this year myself. I can't believe I wanted so long!

I have the Millennium Trilogy but haven't gotten around to them yet.

I have some catching up to do on the Sookie Stackhouse series. I stopped reading when True Blood first aired. Now I've stopped watching the show.

I have the first book in the Nightwalkers series but haven't read it yet either.

  3. I am embarrassed at some of the good reads I have that I have not gotten to yet (at least I hope they are good LOL). Some I waited so long for; Shatter me, Clockwork Prince, A Discovery of Witches, Hallowed, The Historian . . . I will say I have read all of Sookie Stackhouse and be prepared the tv show is loosely based on the books, loved the books, liked the show although it was hard for me to get into because of the differences :) Definitely worth diving into. I read the first two of the Hunger Games, but not three o_O just one more to catch up on. You definitely have some goodies to get through.

    1. No shame allowed, Denise! I haven't read any of the ones you mentioned, either!

Oh, if only I was independently wealthy so that I could stay home and read all day! Of course, I'd need to hire some help to do the cooking and cleaning, too :)
