30 Day Book Challenge - Day 14: The first novel you remember reading

Day 14: The first novel you remember reading.

I cannot say with certainty the first novel that I remember reading, but I know that these two series are among the earliest ones that I read. They are both dear to my heart and bring back many fond memories:

The Bobbsey Twins of Lakeport by Laura Lee Hope (Bobbsey Twins, Book #1)

I have nearly the entire Bobbsey Twins series in hardcover, and I have schlepped those boxes around from place to place when I moved out of the house. Now, they are firmly lodged in my daughter's bedroom!

The Adventures of Reddy Fox by Thornton W. Burgess (Old Mother West Wind series)

My family had nearly this entire series in hardcover. They were much loved by all of my siblings and, after we grew up, my mom split the series up between us so we could each take some of them. Their spines are broken and pages are falling out, but I can't bear to part with them!

I ended up buying the missing books from my set so that my children could have the entire set to enjoy!

I think I am going to have to make reading challenges for both of these series!!

What about you? Have you read either of these series?

What is the first novel that you remember reading? I would love to hear from you! Just leave a comment below!

  1. The first novel that I remember reading is Charlottes Web. I loved it.

    1. That's another one that I loved, too, The Reading-ista!

  2. I read all the Bobsey Twins, The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew, but my first books I remember weren't novels. They were the little golden books, and at the age I was, they were my novels.

    1. I never read The Hardy Boys or Nancy Drew, although I bought the first 70 Nancy Drew books in hardcover at an awesome price and have them put away for my daughter. I'll have to read them when I dig them out for her!

Yes, I remember the Little Golden Books as well! I just loved them and those are the earliest books that I remember, too! Did you have a favourite Little Golden Book?
