Stacking The Shelves and Sunday Post

This meme is hosted by Tynga over at Team Tynga's Reviews, which she describes as follows:
"Stacking The Shelves is all about the books we are adding to our shelves each week, sharing with you our excitement for our newest titles and maybe have you discover a new book in the process!"

Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

I haven't done one of these in over three years! It's nearly mid-November, and we are having unseasonably warm weather here in Winnipeg, Canada. We've broken all sorts of records for high temps during the past two weeks, and it's currently 13 degrees Celsius (that's 55 degrees Fahrenheit for the American folks). It won't last for long, though, because I see wet snow in the forecast for the end of the week! That's okay because my birthday wish (that's today!) is always to get to my birthday with no snow on the ground. Now, it can come :)

So here's a picture of my backyard and we still have green grass! I've bagged 65 bags of leaves, and I am DONE. As you can see, I do in fact still have leaves way at the back of the yard and along the fence but I am now out of leaf bags and Thursday is our last Leaf Pick-up for the season so I'm calling it finished! My back is going to thank me...at least until the snow starts!

We have a dollar store here that always sells new books at extremely reduced prices: $3 for adult books and $1.50 for YA books. Here's what I picked up during the past week:

The Perfect Witness by Iris Johansen
Takedown Twenty by Janet Evanovich (Stephanie Plum, Book #20) - I still need to start this series!
Dragonsbane by Sherrilyn Kenyon (Dark-Hunter, Book #25) - ditto for this one!
The Shade of the Moon by Susan Beth Pfeffer (Last Survivors, Book #4) - and this one!
The Face of Deception by Iris Johansen (Eve Duncan, Book #1) - yup, this one too!

I picked up these freebies on Audible:

Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison
Only Time Will Tell by Jeffrey Archer (The Clifton Chronicles, Book #1)

I received this for review from Simon & Schuster Canada:

Thanks, Simon & Schuster Canada!

  1. Yes I have also found many a great book from the dollar store. We in my home state are just now getting a cold front and I was not ready! We have had decent, more than warm, weather this past week and I'm just not ready for the winter and fall cold front.

    1. I hear ya! The warmer weather has been nice, but I have to admit that I actually DO miss seeing snow on the ground (yes, I actually said that). It doesn't feel like Christmas without snow! The cold, not so much...LOL! I'm okay until -20 Celcius but -30 Celsius is just brutal especially with the windchill on top. Brrrr!

  4. Wow, that's a pretty good deal at the dollar store. Ours doesn't have books that good. :) Hope you like the Woman in Cabin 10, I thought it was good.

65 bags! Wow although we have a ton of leaves too- not done yet lol. I should read Gone Girl on audio, since I never seem to get to the book.

Happy birthday! And have a great week.

    1. Thanks, Greg! I wish there were more YA books at the dollar store, but I think those go pretty quick. I can't wait to read The Woman in Cabin 10! Glad to hear that you enjoyed it!
