Top Ten All-Time Favourite Movies #TopTenTuesday

This is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week, they post a new Top Ten list that one of their bloggers will answer. Everyone is welcome to join!

Today's list is:
Top Ten Thirteen All-Time Favourite Movies.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001): I absolutely loved this movie! It totally did the book justice, and I loved the special effects for the magical aspects of the story.

Pulp Fiction (1994): Director Quentin Tarantino is a little bit twisted, and I think that this is his best film. It's very seldom that you see John Travolta in the role of the bad guy, and I thought he played the role brilliantly.

Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981): I was just 11 years old when I first saw this, and I thought Harrison Ford was so hunky (I still do, LOL!). This is such a great adventure movie, and my kids love it too.

Back to the Future (1985): This is Michael J. Fox at his finest! There was nothing funnier than those scenes between Michael J. Fox and Lea Thompson (as his mother), when he went back in time. I still love this one.

The Shining (1980): Who can forget the scene with Jack Nicholson breaking down the door with an ax and saying, "Heeeeeeeeere's Johnny!"Also, REDRUM!!

Scarface (1983): This violent movie is so dark and gritty. This is my favourite Pacino movie. I still remember when Tony Montana (Al Pacino) stuck his face into a mountain of cocaine. And I love how he went down in a blaze of glory.

Titanic (1997): I am generally not one for romance, but this movie is an exception. I loved it! My heart broke watching the ship fill with water, and I still remember that older couple holding each other on the bed as it started sinking.

Dances With Wolves (1990): I just loved everything about this movie, from the Civil War time period to Two-Socks. And, yes, I even loved the romance between Lieutenant John Dunbar and Stands With A Fist, and how Dunbar changed through the film.

Jurassic Park (1993): I loved the special effects, and it was non-stop action from beginning to end. I could watch this one over and over.

Bad Boys (1983): This is the ultimate prison movie! Lots of violence, but a really heartbreaking story.

Since Christmas is just around the corner, I have to include my Top 3 Favourites which I simply MUST watch each and every year:

Christmas with the Kranks (2004): This movie is hilarious! Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis are so funny, and it's a real "feel good" story.

Elf (2003): Will Ferrell is soooooo funny! This is another sweet, feel-good movie with lots of laughs.

A Christmas Carol (2009): I love this version of this classic. The animation is amazing, although my younger daughter finds it a bit frightening. It stays very close to Dickens' story, and it's a wonderful story of redemption.

So, what are your all-time favourite movies? Please let me know in the comments, or leave me a link to your blog post if you are also participating in the meme!

  4. Some truly awesome movies you have here! I must have been 10 or 11 as well when I saw Indiana Jones! I loved every bit of it! Pulp Fiction is great as well! I've seen it a few times and a typo on the dvd box says the movie is only 93 min. and I fell for it twice now! But I'm glad the movie is so much longer because it's brilliant!
