SYNOPSIS FROM GOODREADS:

Who’s abducting children from 911 emergency scenes?

What if you were in your car alone with your small child and you came upon an emergency scene? Would you stop to help? What if, while you are trying to assist a victim of an accident or mugging, you left your young child alone in the car, thinking he or she would be safe. What if, instead of help, the call to 911 brought a terrifying, sinister result?

Someone’s abducting children from 911 emergency scenes in Aberdeen Maryland, while their parents call for help and lend aid to accident victims. Someone who’s also listening in, is a monster and vicious child abductor. In the midst of the chaos and confusion of the scene, that monster slips in and steals the innocent children leaving behind no trace for authorities.

Sloanne Kelly is unprepared for what awaits in her hometown as she travels back to Maryland. Her goddaughter is one of the victims and the clock is ticking. Together with her best friend and a local fireman, Shawn Tyler, Sloanne will face the most insidious of criminals and fight to recover the children before there is anymore, Cruelty to Innocents.

MY REVIEW:

I received this book from the authors in exchange for an honest review.

This book deals with every mom's worst nightmare: Child abduction and abuse. I cannot imagine anything more horrific. It gripped me right from the start, and my heart was in my throat nearly the whole time! There are a few parts where I was even moved to tears.

The pace of the book moves along very quickly, and I was eagerly waiting to see what was going to happen next!

Sloanne Kelly has had a rough life and has worked hard for everything she has. She is likeable and easy to relate to, and I had no problems connecting with her. Webb and Weaver did a superb job in developing her character.

Now a successful interior designer living in New York, Sloanne returns to Aberdeen to comfort her best friend, Chloe Jacobs, whose 13 year-old daughter, Danielle, was kidnapped from a grocery store while her mother tried to resuscitate an elderly man who collapsed from an apparent heart attack. The daughter of a policeman, Sloanne uses her instincts to track down the monster responsible for these heinous crimes.

With a twist thrown in for good measure, this book was an absolute delight to read! I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a suspenseful mystery.

I cannot wait to read more from the daughter-mother writing duo, and I look forward to reading the next installment in The 911 Abductions!

MY RATING: 4 stars! The story is actually deserving of 5 stars, but I had to knock off 1 star for the excessive amount of typographical errors.

This book qualifies as:
#45 for my 2011 100+ Reading Challenge
#9 for my 1st In A Series Challenge 2011
#1 for my 2011 E-book Reading Challenge
