Stacking The Shelves and Sunday Post

This meme is hosted by Tynga over at Team Tynga's Reviews, which she describes as follows:

"Stacking The Shelves is all about the books we are adding to our shelves each week, sharing with you our excitement for our newest titles and maybe have you discover a new book in the process!"

Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

We're back from our road trip, and it was fabulous! My muscles were a bit sore earlier this week from hiking on inclines but it was worth it. The views were spectacular!

It's back to work tomorrow!

Have you all been taking advantage of the FREE audiobooks that SYNC has been offering? I love this program! Each week during the summer, there is a new pair of audiobooks up for grabs and you need to download them before the new pair is up which takes place every Thursday at 7:00 AM EST. The pairing consists of a newer YA book with a classic or non-fiction title, and it's based on a weekly theme. The books are suitable for ages 13+.

This is the FINAL WEEK! Here are the Week 16 FREE audiobooks, which you can download HERE. You have to download them by 7:00 AM EST on August 17th. Once you have downloaded them, the audiobooks are yours to keep forever and listen at your leisure.

Here is information about Week 16's theme:

Our final week of the AudiobookSYNC 2017 season features a pair of powerful novels about do-over lives, performed in artful celebrations of the audiobook medium. We hope you find them an excellent last call for SYNC 2017 and that you want to come back to them again as well as to SYNC in 2018.

Daniel José Older’s debut novel SHADOWSHAPER has won acclaim from many, including YALSA, Booklist, and the International Latino Book Award for Best Young Adult Fiction (2016). Anika Noni Rose performs this magic-infused story for Scholastic Audiobooks, providing the rhythms and authentic voices of a teen muralist’s Brooklyn neighborhood where sorcery, Puerto Rican history, and gentrification converge. Listeners will be eager to continue with the sequel, Shadowhouse Fall, due in September.

Paired with this is Franz Kafka’s classic METAMORPHOSIS, narrated here by Martin Jarvis for Naxos AudioBooks. Versions of this story about a traveling salesman who awakens in his parents’ house to discover that he has become a beetle, only to be shunned by his family, have appeared in movies, graphic novels, and on stage. The novel itself is short, and Kafka’s writing style and Jarvis’s performance are both so clear that listeners have an opportunity to succeed in tackling this literary classic.

We hope the changes listeners have discovered in themselves and their ideas about books across this eighth summer of SYNC are as pronounced—although happier!—as Gregor’s metamorphosis. We expect it may take you a couple months to work your way through all 32 titles we’ve shared—and that should extend summer just a bit more for our listeners.
