Stacking The Shelves and Sunday Post

This meme is hosted by Tynga over at Team Tynga's Reviews, which she describes as follows:
"Stacking The Shelves is all about the books we are adding to our shelves each week, sharing with you our excitement for our newest titles and maybe have you discover a new book in the process!"

Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

This week has been bitterly cold, and the weekend has been bone-chilling. When I woke up yesterday morning, it was -32 degrees Celsius (that's -25 degrees Fahrenheit) with a windchill of -43 degrees Celsius (that's -45 degrees Fahrenheit)!!! But there is an end in sight. The temp is supposed to warm up throughout the day and even overnight. It is currently -27 degrees Celsius (that's -16 degrees Fahrenheit) with a windchill of -31 degrees Celsius (that's -23 degrees Fahrenheit).

Well, look at that! Looks like a couple of Santa's reindeer have stopped by for a visit!

Oh, my goodness! Didn't I say that it was supposed to warm up on Monday? Look at this!

Monday's high better be a typo!

  1. Ooh, I thought it was cold here in the 40s!

The snow does look pretty, though, and so do the "reindeer."

My True Love Gave to Me looks like a good one for the season. Enjoy!

    1. I agree, the snow does look pretty. Hopefully we don't get another big dump of it all at once, though, because the shovelling is brutal!

  2. Wow, -215. It's gonna cool down a bit lol. That's hilarious. You guys are way colder than us, I've been complaining because of 20's and teens F but after seeing your temps I'll just be quiet now. :)

Nice deer pics! I don't know how they stay warm lol. And I read that holiday anthology last year, hope you like it. There are some good stories in it.

    1. I might fly south today! Let's hope that was just a typo ;)

I love the deer. The past few years, a doe has given birth in our yard and left the fawns with us while she goes off doing whatever deer do. In the wintertime, I do put out deer feed for them especially when it's this brutally cold. It's hard to see it in that pic up there, but there is actually a heated bird bath behind the swing set so that the critters even have access to fresh water in the winter! Even the squirrels jump up on the ledge and drink.

Great to hear how much you enjoyed the holiday anthology. I normally don't like anthologies, but I'll give it a try.

    1. It's getting there! That was just one dump of snow that fell last week. Just wait until January or February! We should have lots more by then!

  4. Anything in the negatives is entirely too cold! It got down in the teens (Fahrenheit) here, and that was freezing enough. o_o I loved A Promise of Fire! And its sequel, Breath of Fire. So, so good. I hope you enjoy all of your new books!

Have a fabulous week, Darlene. :)

    Check out my STS post!

  5. We used to live up north and had a big yard that looked very similar to what yours does, and we would get deer every day. We had a pond just through our tree line and they would head through there. Seeing your post makes me a little homesick, and makes me miss those days when our life was simple and the kids were small. Thanks for sharing these pictures. I really enjoyed them.

    1. A pond would be just lovely! I don't have that, but I do get to enjoy a good variety of woodland critters here in my own backyard. That's what made me fall in love with this place was seeing all the wildlife. I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures!

  6. Now that is cold! It's only supposed to get in the 30s here with wind chills in the 20s. Very cold for the Gulf coast but it won't last long. Good excuse to stay in and read. LOL I don't do cold very well.
Great haul this week. Enjoy and Happy Holidays!
