The past few years have held more surprises than part-angel Clara Gardner could ever have anticipated. Yet from the dizzying highs of first love, to the agonizing low of losing someone close to her, the one thing she can no longer deny is that she was never meant to live a normal life.

Since discovering the special role she plays among the other angel-bloods, Clara has been determined to protect Tucker Avery from the evil that follows her . . . even if it means breaking both their hearts. Leaving town seems like the best option, so she’s headed back to California - and so is Christian Prescott, the irresistible boy from the vision that started her on this journey in the first place.

As Clara makes her way in a world that is frighteningly new, she discovers that the fallen angel who attacked her is watching her every move. And he’s not the only one. . . . With the battle against the Black Wings looming, Clara knows she must finally fulfill her destiny. But it won’t come without sacrifices and betrayal.

In the riveting finale of the Unearthly series, Clara must decide her fate once and for all.

MY REVIEW:

This final installment in the Unearthly series left me still wanting more!

I have been devouring this series, and I can't remember when I last read a series where all my reading plans went out the window because I just HAD to keep reading! This series is totally binge-worthy, and there's something to be said for not having to wait for the next book.

The book starts off with Clara's vision that she's been having all summer ever since her trip to Italy with Angela. In it, she is afraid because something terrible has happened. The floor is slanted, but she doesn't recognize where she is.

Clara is still dealing with the aftermath of her mom's death. She is thankful that she has Billy around but is worried about going to Stanford in the Fall. Having Billy around makes her feel closer to her mom because of all the memories that Billy and her mom shared, having been friends for so long. Clara also misses Jeffrey, who is staying away because of his role in the fires.

So this is it - where finally all is revealed about Clara's purpose. Everything starts to come together once Angela and Clara go to Stanford in the Fall. I don't want to say too much about what happened to keep this spoiler-free, but I could not put this book down! I have a bit of a book hangover because I'm so sad to see one of my favourite series come to an end. I want more! While I am happy for Clara that she got what she wanted in the end, that's not the ending that I wanted.  The author reveals on her Goodreads page that she plans to release a novella from Christian's point of view, so I'll be snapping that up as soon as it's published!

This series gave me all the feels. I love paranormal books and, for me, angels are such a rarity in the books that I read. It was something different for me, and I just loved everything about Hand's angelbloods. I loved the importance of family and how that was a constant across all of the books, and how also family isn't just blood. Our friends can be our family, too. The romantic triangle between Tucker, Clara, and Christian worked with each boy offering something different to Clara so she really did have an impossible decision because no matter who she chose she would still lose a piece of her heart to the other. This is a series that I really treasure. Normally, I donate my books after I have read them but I am hanging on to these ones!

Because of this series, this author is now an auto-buy for me! I can't wait to read more of her work.
