Stacking The Shelves and Sunday Post

This meme is hosted by Tynga over at Team Tynga's Reviews, which she describes as follows:

"Stacking The Shelves is all about the books we are adding to our shelves each week, sharing with you our excitement for our newest titles and maybe have you discover a new book in the process!"

Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

On with the reno!

On the August long weekend, I tackled the ceilings in my children's bedrooms and changed them from blue to white (took three coats of paint each room). This weekend I'm tackling my older daughter's room, painting her walls and then installing her new blackout curtains. Next weekend, I'll be tackling my younger daughter's room for the same. Then shampoo their carpets, and their rooms will be fresh and ready for back to school! I plan to tackle my bedroom in September but I still have yet to decide on colours.

This is a huge job to redecorate our bedrooms, but we all have crappy blinds in our bedrooms that I've never changed since I bought the house in 2001. The blinds in my bedroom don't even open/close...the verticals are all twisted and only stay in the same position so some are flat and others are open. It will be nice to get new window coverings for everyone, which is why I decided that I may as well paint while I'm at it! Then it's good for another 17 years 😄

I bought these at Audible's 2-for-1 sale. I am excited to try these new-to-me authors:

Airframe
by Michael Crichton

Envy
by Sandra Brown

The Complete Stories of Sherlock Holmes
by Arthur Conan Doyle

Congo
by Michael Crichton

  1. It will be nice to have all new bedrooms and you'll be done before the business holiday season!

    1. Yes, that's the plan! I want to spend the winter tackling the basement. It all boxes and piles of stuff and needs decluttering so that it can be emptied and gutted.

  2. I'm getting ready to paint my living room. Then on to my son's room. It's a dark green and must have had a lighter color underneath as it bleeds through and looks awful. Been here many years so I should have done that right when I moved in. LOL Better late than never! good luck with yours!

    1. It sounds like whoever put the dark green on didn't do a second coat! Or they skipped the primer. Good luck with yours!

  3. WOW Darlene I am exhausted just reading your post today! My hubs painted our restroom at the beginning of his holiday and ...ended with a backache! No moving for days LOL Now I am certain it will be worth it! Sophie @bewareofthereader

    1. Painting is definitely a lot of work! I don't like to use the roller extension, so it's a lot of up and down on ladders. Ceilings are brutal!

  4. I love the cover and the title for Congo, I'm sure it's about the Virugna park and the gorillaz.
I stayed in COngo for 13 months between 2016 and 2017 and would love to know what you think about the book

  5. Wow, you’ve been busy. That much housework would have killed me. Have a great week!

    1. LOL, thankfully this isn't something that needs to be done very often! With a house, there is always something that needs to be done though. It feels good to see progress!
