Stacking The Shelves and Sunday Post

This meme is hosted by Tynga over at Team Tynga's Reviews, which she describes as follows:

"Stacking The Shelves is all about the books we are adding to our shelves each week, sharing with you our excitement for our newest titles and maybe have you discover a new book in the process!"

Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

Hello, summer! It was 35 degrees Celsius here (that's 95 degrees Fahrenheit) on Friday. Thankfully, not as hot yesterday and today. Yesterday, it was 27 degrees  (that's 80.6 degrees Fahrenheit) so perfect for doing some gardening. I have my flower pots filled and hopefully the deer won't eat everything up! I was told that deer stay away from pots that contain salvia, so that's what I'm trying this year. I like to try new flowers each year, and my challenge is not only trying to find deer/rabbit resistant plants but ones that can handle direct sunlight. My steps face south, so we have direct sunlight and those plants usually burn in the sun.

Here's what I have in my window boxes:

I have two hanging pots on either side of the window boxes with an assortment of flowers:

I have four hanging pots on my backyard gazebo with an assortment:

Of course, I need Mojito Mint for all those summer-time drinks:

I can't resist Gerbara daisies:

I was so upset last year at my first attempt to grow a vegetable, when my thriving zucchini plant was eaten by a deer! A friend swears that the deer/rabbits don't eat rhubarb or green onions, so she gave me some plants from her yard to try in my front flower bed:

The perennials that I planted last year are looking bushier than last year:

My mom picked up a lavender plant for me:

If you missed it earlier, I have ARCs to swap. Check out MY POST to see if there's anything there that you'd like to read. If so, please let me know! I'd love to trade with someone. I will be adding to it once I have a chance to dig through boxes and bookshelves.

I bought this one with an Audible credit. I now own the first three audiobooks in this series but have yet to listen to them! I've heard they're great:

Dark Water
by Robert Bryndza
(Detective Erika Foster, Book #3)

Have you all been taking advantage of the FREE audiobooks that SYNC has been offering? I love this program! Each week during the summer, there is a new pair of audiobooks up for grabs and you need to download them before the new pair is up which takes place every Thursday at 7:00 AM EST. The pairing consists of a newer YA book with a classic or non-fiction title, and it's based on a weekly theme. The books are suitable for ages 13+.

Here are the Week 6 FREE audiobooks, which you can download HERE. You have to download them by 7:00 AM EST on June 8th. Once you have downloaded them, the audiobooks are yours to keep forever and listen at your leisure.

Here is information about Week 6's theme:

In recognition of high school’s traditional evening of high fashion and romance, the sixth week of AudiobookSYNC 2017 offers a pair of free audiobooks that will satisfy prom-goers, prom-avoiders, romantics, and cynics alike. Both take inspiration from the folktale of Beauty and the Beast; however, each is unique and more nuanced than any Disney version.

Of Beast and Beauty

Beast

  1. Love your flowers. That must be frustrating to have your plants eaten by the deer. But lucky you to have deer. I was out planting some flowers today too.

Just finished The Dry by Jane Howard,an Australian debut author. It's a mystery and is good. Now reading The Cruelest Month by Louise Penny, another good mystery author.
