A Winter's Respite Read-a-Thon has begun!

I'm Reading:

I'm Listening To:

Something from my TBR mountain, and this is January's Read-a-Long for the Classic Horror Reading Challenge.

Frankenstein, or The Modern Prometheus
by Mary Shelley
[on my iPod]

Other Books on my TBR:

The Kite Runner
by Khaled Hosseini
[on my iPod]

by L. Frank Baum
(Katie Maguire, Book #1)
by Graham Masterton

I will post my updates on Twitter using the #WintersRespite hashtag, and then do a wrap-up post at the end of the read-a-thon on my blog.

Thanks again to Michelle at Seasons of Reading for hosting!

  1. I listened to Frankenstein for the first time last year and wow, was Dr. Frankenstein ever an unlikable whiny character. He drove me nuts with his carrying on! Enjoy your reads :)

    1. I'm having the same problem with Frankenstein! Ugh, I hope it gets better.

  2. Glad you're joining us, Darlene. I wanted to join in on this month's Classic Horror read-along, but I already have so much on my plate. I hope you enjoy your reading for this two weeks. A friend of mine read "When She Woke" years ago and really loved it.

  4. Have a great two weeks of reading. I read Frankenstein a couple years ago and didn't love it, but felt good about finally reading if that makes sense.

    1. I know exactly what you mean, Carol. It's been on my TBR for a LONG time, but I wish I enjoyed it more than I am.

  5. Hey, did you notice she never posted a sign-up for the Classic Horror challenge, or did I miss it somehow?

    1. No, you didn't notice it. She announced the challenge and then said there would be a sign-up, but there never was. I did leave a comment saying that I was in for the challenge, but my comment didn't get posted. On her most recent blog post dated Jan 1st, she lists the books that she is reading and includes Frankenstein for the Classic Horror Challenge, so I guess it's still on.

    2. LOL, not "notice". I meant "miss". You didn't miss it.

I just checked her Twitter, and she did send out a tweet on the 15th asking if anyone was reading it. She actually did say in her challenge post that she'd be using Twitter to discuss it. Use #classichorror2017 hashtag

    3. Thanks, Darlene. She actually signed up for my readathon so I tweeted her about the challenge too.
