Wicked Wildfire Read-a-Thon Challenge: Slake your Thirst

The Wicked Wildfire Read-a-Thon has begun!

Kimberly @ The Caffeinated Book Reviewer is hosting this challenge. Here is Kimberly's question:

Share your favorite drink recipe* and the
cover of your favorite/most anticipated summer read!
Have fun with this, include pictures, the recipe (so we can all try it**) and tell us about your book choice. Have you read it? Are you anxiously awaiting its release this summer? Why?

I'm going to share two of my favourite summertime (or anytime!) drinks. One contains alcohol and the other doesn't.

If you haven't tried Bacardi's Frozen Mixers, you are missing out on some thirst-quenching goodness on a hot summer's night!

 Summertime Swirl (contains alcohol):

Ingredients:

  • 1 can of frozen BACARDI® Mixers Strawberry Daiquiri mix
  • 1 can of frozen BACARDI® Mixers Piña Colada mix
  • 1 cup of BACARDI® Rum
  • 10 cups of ice
  • Strawberries for garnish

Directions:

1. Blend together BACARDI® Mixers Piña Colada mix, 1/2 cup of BACARDI® Rum and five cups of ice for 45 to 60 seconds or until uniform. If you only have one blender, transfer into a pitcher.
2. Blend together BACARDI® Mixers Strawberry Daiquiri mix, 1/2 cup of BACARDI® Rum and five cups of ice for 45 to 60 seconds or until uniform.
3. Pour Piña Colada and Strawberry Daiquiri into glass simultaneously, so that Piña Colada fills either the left or right side of the glass and Strawberry Daiquiri fills the other.
4. Swirl with swizzle stick and garnish with strawberry.
5. Serves ten people.

Summertime Drink for Kids
Shirley Temple

My kids love the Shirley Temples that are made with Sprite instead of orange juice. This recipe is really easy!
  1. Fill up a glass with ice.
  2. Add Sprite until almost full.
  3. Add Grenadine to taste (about 1 oz per 7 oz of Sprite). If you like it a bit sweeter, add more!
  4. Stir.
  5. Add a couple of maraschino cherries to a swizzle stick and drop in.

My Summer Reading Pick:

I have been dying to read this book! I have heard nothing but praise for it, and it sounds like something I would enjoy. I actually won a hardcover copy in a giveaway, but I just haven't had the time to read it! I'm definitely planning to enjoy it this summer!

Thanks, Kimberly, for hosting this challenge!
