Characters I Liked That Were In Non-Favorite/Disliked Books #TopTenTuesday

This is a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week, they post a new Top Ten list that one of their bloggers will answer. Everyone is welcome to join!

The topic for today's list is:

Characters I Liked That Were In Non-Favourite/Disliked Books

I rated each of these books 2 stars, so I was kind of "meh" about them.

A Cold Day for Murder
by Dana Stabenow
(Kate Shugak, Book #1)
From my review: "I do love Kate as well as the Alaskan setting, so I am willing to give this series another chance..."

Wreck the Halls
by Sarah Graves
(Home Repair is Homicide, Book #5)
From my review: "I enjoyed learning about Jake and the relationship with her ex, Victor, and their son with her new husband. I think I'd like to go back to the beginning of the series just to get the back story on those characters. I'm willing to give this series another shot."

Blood Rose Rebellion
by Rosalyn Eves
(Blood Rose Rebellion, Book #1)
Anna was such a great character, but this book fell flat for me. From my review: "
The premise of the book sounded so exciting! I think the book had a lot of potential, and the world-building was good and leading up to what I hoped to be some great excitement so I'm not really sure what happened in the middle. I think there was a lot of unnecessary filler. For me, it was very “meh” and kind of boring. At this point, I don’t think that I will continue on with the series."

Frankenstein, or The Modern Prometheus
by Mary Shelley
I actually liked The Creature and not Victor Frankenstein! From my review: "I find this a difficult review to write because I didn’t particularly like Victor Frankenstein! In all honesty, I actually LIKED the creature. The third part of the story was my favourite, because it was told from the creature’s perspective. I couldn’t help but feel sorry for him. Shelley beautifully conveys the creature’s sensitive nature and his intelligence, how he studies the family who lives in the hut in the woods. He shows his thoughtfulness by cutting down trees during the night for firewood and leaving it at their door. He learns how to speak through his observations of the family’s interactions with each other. You can feel the pain of his loneliness."

So, who are some characters that you liked in books that were not your favourite? Please let me know in the comments, or leave me a link to your blog post if you are also participating in the meme!

  2. I've never read any of these!
Blood Rose Rebellion was on my TBR but I kept seeing the same criticisms of it and decided it wasn't for me.
