30 Day Book Challenge - Day 1: Best book you've read this year

Day 1: Best book you've read this year.
Hands down, it's Battle Royale by Koushun Takami:
I absolutely loved this book! The buzz on the internet is that The Hunger Games was based on this book, which is translated from Japanese. Since I have not yet read The Hunger Games, I cannot comment on that aspect. However, this book is not intended for Young Adults. It is extremely violent and graphic. If you are a fan of survival stories and fast-paced thrillers and are not put off by extreme violence, I highly recommend it! You won't be disappointed!
What about you? What is the best book that you have read this year? I would love to hear from you! Just leave a comment below!

  1. I've read so many great books this year it would be so hard to pick. But if I have to absolutely narrow it down to one I'd pick Divergent by Veronica Roth.

I've heard the same thing about THG and that it's based off Battle Royale. I LOVED THG, so I think I'll probably end up reading Battle Royale one day. I'm super curious about it.

Glad to hear that you loved THG! It's also high on my TBR list. I hope you enjoy Battle Royale as much as I did!

    1. Hi, fredamans! My nieces (aged 32 yrs and 29 yrs) both devoured the series as well! They warned me to expect that I would sacrifice some sleep because I wouldn't be able to stop reading! I hope I have a chance to read the series before year-end!

  3. Battle Royale is like a classic in Japan. There's also a movie version you should check out! I haven't seen it yet, but from what friends have told me it's bloody. But that's nothing new in Japanese horror.

    1. Hi, Christina! I haven't seen the movie yet, but I do plan to watch it. I've also been warned that it is quite bad (lame) in comparison to the book!

    1. Hi, wordsandpeace! I have heard nothing but praise for Kate Morton! Her books are also on my TBR list!

Little Princes sounds like a very moving memoir. I'll have to add that one to my TBR list!

Thanks for leaving your link...I'm hopping over!
