Books I Loved But Will Never Re-Read #TopTenTuesday

This is a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week, they post a new Top Ten list that one of their bloggers will answer. Everyone is welcome to join!

The topic for today's list is:

Books I Loved But Will Never Re-Read

For me, this is probably about 95% of them! I am NOT a re-reader. There are so many books on my TBR that I don't have time to re-read favourites. I make very few exceptions, such as: Listening to Blatty's The Exorcist every Halloween and Dickens' A Christmas Carol every Christmas.

Here's a few that I know that I won't be re-reading!

Outlander
by Diana Gabaldon
(Outlander, Book #1)
I did absolutely love this one, but the reason why I'll never re-read it is the same reason why I've never continued on in the series: It's too dang long!! The audiobook is almost 33 hrs, and I just hate being stuck on one book for that long.

A Prayer for Owen Meany
by John Irving
Ditto for this one. This book is brilliant, but almost 27 hours long!

In a Dark, Dark Wood
by Ruth Ware
As much as I loved this one, I don't think I'd read it again because the element of surprise would be gone. Now that I know what's going to happen, I don't think it would be the same. I'm like that with movies as well.

Distress Signals
Catherine Ryan Howard
Ditto for this one. Loved it but now that I know about the plot twists, I don't think it would affect me the same way.

by Khaled Hosseini
This was such an emotional read and, at times, tough to listen to. It tore my heart out, and I don't think I can go through it again!

So, what books did you love but won't be re-reading? Please let me know in the comments, or leave me a link to your blog post if you are also participating in the meme!

  1. I'm not usually a re-reader either. Too many books and so little time!

  2. Yes, Outlander was on my list too. I'm stuck in the middle of the third book. There's sooo much to it. They are great books but so meaty!!

  3. Your reasoning on not rereading Outlander is the same reason why I've never picked it up: too long! I much prefer the TV show which comes in shorter, more manageable chunks!

  5. I totally feel you with Outlander. I did the audiobook while I was driving in the car. While I drive a lot (about 6-8 hours a week), it took a bloody lifetime to get through the damn thing. Amazing, but so dang long.
