Books That I'm Still Interested In Reading Even Though I'm No Longer A Kid #TopTenTuesday

This is a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week, they post a new Top Ten list that one of their bloggers will answer. Everyone is welcome to join!

The original topic for today's list is:

Books I’ve Decided I’m No Longer Interested In Reading

I get that a reader's interests can change and some books may lose their appeal, but that's not me! So, I'm changing the topic a bit to suit me. I'll go with:

Books That I'm Still Interested In Reading Even Though I'm No Longer A Kid!

by C.S. Lewis
(The Chronicles of Narnia, Books #1-7)
I've never finished this series, and I want to read it aloud to my younger daughter. The magical elements of the series and good vs evil theme appeals to me.

by Laura Ingalls Wilder
(Little House, Books #1-9)
I read only the first one as a kid, but I loved it! I was so intrigued with the colonial days of simpler times. This is another series that I want to read aloud to my younger daughter.

by J.K. Rowling
(Harry Potter, Books #1-7)
I held off on reading this series for the SOLE REASON that I wanted to share them with my kids! I've read the first three books aloud to them, and we were reading Goblet of Fire but they started to lose interest a bit with the size of the tome. They're older now, so I'll give it another go with my younger daughter. She'll probably want to start the series over, and that's fine with me! I love Harry Potter!

by Erin Hunter
(Warriors, Books #1-6)
I'm reading this series right now to my younger daughter, and I'm loving it! I would have devoured this series when I was a kid.

by Madeleine L'Engle
(Time Quintet, Books #1-5)
With the movie coming out this month, I'm planning to read this series to my younger daughter this year.

by Lemony Snicket
(A Series of Unfortunate Events, Books #1-13)
Now that this series is on Netflix, I really want to read it to my younger daughter but she's worried it will be too scary. Maybe I'll have to pre-read it!

by Rick Riordan
(Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Books #1-5)
I love mythology, so I think this series would be right up my alley!

by Jenny Nimmo
(The Children of the Red King, Books #1-8)
This is another magical fantasy series that I want to read aloud.

by Cornelia Funke
(Inkworld, Books #1-3)
This is another boxset that I've set aside to read to my daughter.

by Lloyd Alexander
(The Chronicles of Prydain, Books #1-5)
This one is more epic fantasy than I usually read, but it's still something that I've always wanted to read. Not sure if my daughter will like it, so I might be reading this one on my own.

You can answer the original topic if you like: What books are you no longer interested in reading? Please let me know in the comments, or leave me a link to your blog post if you are also participating in the meme!

  1. OMG! I've started and enjoyed, then quit enjoying, nearly every one of those series! I have read and re-read all of Little House though. My daughter and I loved Inkheart--which we listened to. We also enjoyed Book 1 of Warriors but she did not choose to continue. You may want to check out MossFlower series too. Confession: I never even made it thru all the HP movies which makes me possibly the only living reader to admit it.

    1. I will definitely check out the MossFlower series, thanks!

I, too, have not seen all the HP movies. I refused to watch Goblet of Fire (and the rest) until I finish the books!

  2. Omg you HAVE to read Chronicles of Narnia! I read them as a kid and as a teenager and they're so good!

    Here are my Top Ten!

  3. I like the narnia series and I read the series in a couple of days, the books are so short.

I love harry potter, read the whole series in a week.

I want to read 'a wrinke in time' but then seem to keep putting it off but maybe one day I'll read the whole series but now, I'm not sure.

I read the first 3 'unfortunate events' books and I find them just okay though the 3 books I read seems to be almost the same, the same theme of the orphans going to live with a new guardian and something happens to the guardian and then they do it all over again in the next book, it's just so repetitive, I didn't want to finish the rest of the 10 books but you and your daughter might like it.

I read the first one 'inkheart' and find it a bit boring and kind of slow but perhaps it will be different for you as I read it on and off which is not a good way to read a book.

I don't know about the other series but they sound good.

    have a lovely day.

  4. I love how you tweaked this to fit you. Some great series here, but I haven't read all of them. May I just say that Harry Potter gets better and better, though the kids do have some teen annoyances. And Percy Jackson - such a good series.
