December Wrap-up

It's hard to believe that Christmas has come and gone! I hope everyone had a great holiday and a nice start to the New Year.

I finished nine books this month. Thanks to the 2017 Christmas Spirit Reading Challenge, I managed to squeeze in some more holiday reading.

FROM MY BOOKSHELF:

5 stars
Into the Wild
by Erin Hunter (Warriors, Book #1)

2 stars
Wreck the Halls
by Sarah Graves
(Home Repair is Homicide, Book #5)

5 stars
by R. William Bennett

FROM THE LIBRARY

4 stars
by Ellen Byron
(Cajun Country Mystery, Book #2)

5 stars
by Laura Esquivel

4 stars
by Eliza Knight
(Highland Bound, Book #1)

4 stars
A Very Gothic Christmas
by Christine Feehan and Melanie George

REVIEW COPIES

2 stars
Big Little Lies
by Liane Moriarty

4 stars
Fierce Kingdom
by Gin Phillips

Like Water for Chocolate was my favourite read in December. A close second was Jacob T. Marley, which is likely to be an annual holiday favourite! Such a great complement to A Christmas Carol.

There was a tie for my least favourite read (yeah, it sucks that two of my reads this month weren't very good): Wreck the Halls and Big Little Lies. With the first one, I jumped into the series at Book #5 so that might be part of the issue, so I'm willing to give that series another chance. With the second one, it was a huge disappointment because that book is so hyped up that I really thought it would be better than it was!

I discovered nine new authors, and I started three new series: Hunter's Warriors series which I'm reading aloud to my younger daughter, Knight's Highland Bound series, and Feehan's Christmas Stories. I also jumped into two additional series and need to go back and start them from Book #1: Graves' Home Repair is Homicide series and Byron's Cajun Country Mysteries.
